Berkunjung ke Kampung Rang Talu

Nama Talu mungkin sudah tak asing lagi bagi warga Sumatra Barat, terutama karena ada nyanyiannya 'Rang Talu', atau legenda 'Kuburan Duo'. Sebenarnya ada hal-hal menarik lain dari nagari yang termasuk Kenagarian Talu, Kecamatan Tala'mau, Kabupaten Pasaman Barat ini. Misalnya view Gunung Tala'mau, arus deras di Batang Talu dan Batang Sinuruik, permandian air panas, air terjun dan sebagainya.

Dr Fadlan Maalip SKm, Tuanku Bosa XIV, intelektual sekaligus Ketua KAN dan Pucuak Adaik Nagari Talu bahkan mengatakan dia sudah mendokumentasikan 9 obyek wisata menarik di Talu dan Sinuruik ke dalam sebuah lempeng compact disc (CD). CD tersebut kelak akan diperbanyak dan disebarluaskan ke relasi Rang Talu yang ternyata banyak juga di Malaysia.

"Jumlah sekitar 800 KK, terutama di Johor dan sekitarnya," kata Tuanku Bosa XIV dalam perbincangan dengan padangmedia.com di gedung KAN Talu, yang sekaligus menjadi kantornya.

Sayang padangmedia.com takbisa mengunjungi satupun , karena jadwal di Talu cuma sehari, itupun lebih untuk tujuan lain, yang tak ada hubungannya dengan rekreasi.

Dengan mobil, Talu bisa dicapai dalam waktu sekitar 4 jam. Berangkat pukul 07.30 WIB, sampai pukul 11.30 WIB. Kondisi jalan cukup bagus, meski di Bawan, Kinali, sampai Simpang Ampek jalan berlubang di sana-sini. Ruas jalan dari Simpang Gudang, Manggopoh, Kabupaten Agam ke Simpang Ampek, Kabupaten Pasaman ini memang sudah agak lama rusak dan belum ada tanda-tanda akan diperbaiki.

Namun semua itu tidak mengurangi rasa kenikmatan perjalanan, apalagi perut sudah terisi nasi panas dan gulai ikan segar dari RM Buyung di Tiku. Rasanya pantat yang lenyai karena terbanting-banting oleh kondisi jalan yang buruk tersebut sudah terlupakan saja.

Pertama masuk Nagari Talu, kesan rapi, damai dan tentramnya sudah terasa. Masyarakatnya juga sangat ramah, kecuali tukang ojek yang menawarkan ojek sambil memelototkan mata, entah belajar manajemen pemasaran di mana dia? Selebihnya hanya keramahan yang terasa, meski masyarakat tampaknya sudah terpecah-pecah ke berbagai bendera, spanduk, papan nama dan baliho partai-partai politik dan caleg yang diusung partai-partai tersebut. Mereka menyimpannya dalam keramahan yang santun dan hangat.

Kesan rapi itu ternyata tak sembarangan. Sejak awal abad ke-20, Talu ternyata sudah sangat maju, melebihi Lubuak Sikapiang, ibukota Kabupaten Pasaman, yang dulu menjadi induk bagi kawasan Talu, Sinuruik, Kajai dan Kabupaten Pasaman Barat sendiri. Seperti diungkapkan Tuanku Bosa XIV. "Sejak tahun 1920 Talu sudah punya jaringan air minum, rumah sakit, lembaga pemasyarakatan sendiri, bahkan Kantor Polres baru pindah ke Lubuak Sikapiang tahun 1980," kata dr Fadlan.

Ny Hj. Nurmal Maalip, mantan anggota DPRD tiga periode (1984-1999) dan tokoh Bundo Kanduang serta aktivis Aisyiah Kabupaten Pasaman, tempat padangmedia.com menginap mengatakan hal senada. "Talu memang sudah lebih dulu maju dari induknya, saya juga tidak tahu kenapa," kata ibu yang ramah yang sekarang berusia 75 tahun tapi masih sangat segar secara fisik dan pemikirannya itu.

Sarat Fenomena Sejarah
Dari perspektif pariwisata, kalau kita hanya nongkrong di Talu saja memang tak ada yang menonjol. Fasilitas tempat hiburan tak tersedia, poenginapan juga seadanya, hanya sebuah wisma dekat kantor camat Tala'mau, yang kata Wali Nagari Sinuruik, Masrivelli SSos, kurang diminati pengunjung.

"Mungkin karena Simpang Ampek dekat, pengunjung Talu dan Sinuruik lebih banyak menginap di Simpang Ampek," kata alumnus jurusan Antropologi Fisip Universitas Andalas ini menjelaskan. Jarak dari Talu ke Simpang Ampek memang hanya sekitar 30 kilometer, tapi ongkos angdes (angkutan pedesaannya) Rp10.000 lho.

Di luar itu, sebenarnya banyak hal menarik di Talu, misalnya fakta sejarah bahwa rumah Hj Nurmal pernah dijadikan markas Pembela Natsir, tokoh Masyumi, mantan Perdana Menteri era rezim Sorkarno, yang baru saja diakui negara sebagi Pahlawan Nasional dari Sumatra Barat. Di rumah yang berlokasi di kawasan Bangkok, Kenagarian Sinuruik ini, ini Presiden PDRI (Pemerintah Darurat Republik Indonesia) Syafruddin Prawiranegara pernah menyelenggarakan rapat-rapat penting bersama tokoh-tokoh politik lainnya.

Ketika Gubernur Azwar Anas berkunjung ke Talu untuk menghadiri suatu acara Muhammadiyah, dia lebih suka tidur di rumah Hj Nurmal, padahal rumah yang lebih bagus sudah disediakan untuk dia dan anggota rombongan Muspida Sumbar lainnya. "Ketua Umum DPP Muhammadiyah juga pernah menginap di rumah kayu kami yang sederhana ini," kata Hj Nurmal merendah.

Keseharian Nan Eksotik
Lebih dari itu, yang lebih menarik dari Talu dan Sinuruik adalah suasana kesehariannya yang sangat kental nuansa tradisionalnya. Masyarakat di kedua nagari yang berdampingan ini hidup dari pertanian. Sawah yang luas terhampar di mana-mana, lengkap dengan iring-iringan itik di pematangnya dan kincir air dari kayu di sekelilingnya. Kincir air yang sama juga dipakai untuk menumbuk padi dan kopi. Sementara di setiap sudut terjemur hamparan buah pinang yang tidak bisa dilepaskan dari tradisi Rang Talu. Mereka suka mengunyahnya begitu saja.

Yusuf, anak Bukittinggi yang besar di Jambi dan kini bekerja sebagai supir pribadi dr Fadlan mengungkapkan bahwa masyarakat setempat biasa makan pinang di setiap kesempatan. "Sudah seperti rokok, masyarakat begitu lekat dengan buah pinang, sampai-sampai saya juga ketularan," katanya.

Kita bisa menemukan hamparan buah pinang ini mulai dari Pasar Talu Sinuruik yang ramai di hari Rabu, sampai ke pedalaman Sinuruik di perbukitan. Ibu-ibu tua menjemur pinang dengan kasih sayang, mengurai-urainya setiap saat, membolak-balik agar rata disinari matahari. Buah pinang ini dijemur di jalan-jalan kampung dan jorong yang rata-rata sudah dibeton semua. Kadang-kadang dijemur dengan gardamungu, komoditas lain yang juga telah banyak menopang kehidupan masyarakat Talu Sinuruik sejak dulu.

Kacang Tanah dan Gula Aren
Dua komoditas lain yang menonjol di Talu dan Sinuruik adalah kacang tanah dan gula aren. "Kacang tanahnya tak kalah dengan Kacang Garuda," kata dr Fadlan berpromosi. Pemilik sebuah sekolah tinggi ilmu keperawatan di Jambi ini menceritakan bagaimana kacang tanah Talu yang dikemas dengan baik bisa laris manis seperti Kacang Garuda di supermarket-supermarket Jambi. "Sayang di Talu sendiri kemasan belum diperhatikan, kacang tanah berkualitas seperti itu masih dibungkus dengan plastik transparan saja," katanya.

Gula arennya juga tak kalah menarik. "Kalau ada waktu longoklah petani aren kami mengolah gula aren, lihat bagaimana mereka memanjat dengan bambu sebatang, lalu memukul-mukul lembut tandan aren sambil bersenandung, menunggu dengan sabar gula aren mengalir ke bumbung," paparnya.

Koto Dalam
Daya tarik alam dan keseharian ini masih dilengkapi dengan daya tarik budaya. Di tanah kelahiran, di Koto Dalam, Kenagarian Talu, dr Fadlan selaku pewaris gelar adat Tuanku Bosa sedang membangun sebuah rumah gadang.

"Saya maksudkan sebagai Rumah Gadang Tuanku Bosa, pengganti rumah gadang lama yang sudah diruntuhkan. Dibanding yang dulu rumah gadang yang ini tak ada apa-apanya, karena tiang-tiang rumah gadang yang dulu saja dibuat dari kayu utuh yang sangat besar, kalau main sembunyi-sembunyian, kita bisa sembunyi dalam rongganya," ungkap dia.

Dr Fadlan berharap rumah gadang itu kelak bisa menjadi pusat dokumentasi sekaligus informasi tentang adat-istiadat Talu Sinuruik bagi siapa saja yang berminat. "Terutama masyarakat Kenagarian Talu dan Sinuruik sendiri, serta para peneliti budaya dan pelancong, yang tertarik dengan budaya Talu Sinuruik," kata pemuka adat yang tengah menanti kedatang rombongan pelancong dari Malaysia ini. "Sekitar 20 rombongan dari Malaysia sudah merencanakan kunjungan ke Talu Agustus nanti, kita harap rumah gadangnya sudah siap menyambut mereka," katanya lagi. (Imran Rusli)

Mencari Susur Galur Orang Rao

Salam Pak Arisel Ba,

Saya dimaklumkan oleh mak saya yang kami keturunan Rao,kalau tak silap saya disebelah nenek saya ( Rokiah bt Taha).Arwah Moyang saya ini (Tok Taha) berkahwin dgn Arwah Moyang Manja dan semasa hayatnya (Moyang Manja) ini tinggal di kawasan Gali Lurus.Arwah datuk saya yang berkahwin dengan Rokiah Taha bernama Abdullah b. Mokhti.Dengarnya asal usul suku Minang dan pernah menetap di Kuala Gali-sebelah rumah arwah tuk empat tak jauh dari tanah perkuburan kuala gali.

Saya ingin mencari susur galur keturunan Rao,tetapi itu sahaja maklumat yang saya ada.

DUA Isnin berturut-turut yang lalu telah diperkenalkan dua tokoh ulama yang berasal dari Rao atau Rawa. Artikel ini pula adalah rangkaian yang tersebut dan merupakan bicara lanjut yang dibincangkan dalam Majlis Muzakarah Ahlus Sunah wal Jamaah di Raub, Pahang pada 18 Mac 2007 M/28 Safar 1428 H lalu.

Tokoh yang diperkenalkan ialah seorang yang gigih menyebarkan Tarekat Naqsyabandiyah Khalidiyah. Nama lengkap beliau mengikut salasilah ayahnya ialah Tuan Guru Imam Tengku Haji Ishak bin Tengku Muhammad Arif bin Tengku Tan Joleng Tujuan Saka Mas bin Tengku Merah Laut Silingkar Alam @ Limbang Laut keluarga Yang Dipertuan Muda Tanjung Alai, Mapat Tunggal, Rao, Sumatera Barat.

Sungguhpun masih banyak persoalan yang masih belum jelas, namun berdasarkan surat Zaffuan bin Haji Manap ar-Rawi al-Qadiriah kepada Pengkaji bertarikh 17 Ramadan 1427 H/20 Oktober 2006 M, keluarga tersebut ada pertalian dengan Syeikh Muhammad Murid Rawa.

Kata Zaffuan, “Keluarga Syeikh Murid ini juga mempunyai pertalian dengan keluarga Merah Mas, Yang Dipertuan Muda Tanjung Alai, Rao tetapi sayangnya peraturan sebenar masih belum dapat dihuraikan hingga kini.”

Saya simpulkan saja bahawa Imam Tengku Haji Ishak salah seorang daripada keluarga Rao atau Rawa dan besar baktinya mendokumenkan keluarga itu terutama di Malaysia.

Menurut surat Zaffuan itu lagi, “Punca utama manuskrip keluarga beliau (maksudnya keluarga Syeikh Muhammad Shalih Rawa, bererti juga semua keluarga) di Pahang ini pada asalnya adalah atas usaha orang tua kami yang dihormati lagi dimuliakan iaitu almarhum Tuan Guru Imam Haji Ishak bin Muhammad Arif al-Khalidi an- Naqsyabandi (1908-1992).”

Ibu Imam Haji Ishak bernama Hindun @ Nujmah binti Tengku Mahmud (keturunan Siak). Ibu Hindun @ Nujmah ialah Maryam berasal dari Kampung Teluk Pulai, Klang, Selangor. Imam Haji Ishak dilahirkan di Kampung Chemor, Ipoh, Perak pada tahun 1908 dan meninggal dunia tahun 1992.

Beliau menerima Tarekat Naqsyabandiyah daripada Syeikh Umar bin Haji Muhammad al-Khalidi an-Naqsyabandi (wafat tahun 1936) di Batu Pahat, Johor.

Guru Syeikh Umar pula ialah Syeikh Abdul Wahhab Rokan (lahir 1811, wafat tahun 1926). Menurut surat Zaffuan lagi: “Beliau adalah seorang guru agama dan pemimpin Tarekat Naqsyabandiyah yang terkenal di seluruh mukim Dong, Raub malah muridnya juga ramai yang datang dari luar Pahang.”

Dari perkataan “Beliau adalah seorang guru agama dan pemimpin Tarekat Naqsyabandiyah ..." perlu diberi ulasan bahawa perkara khilafiah (pertikaian pendapat) dalam Islam sangat banyak, termasuklah ada golongan yang menerima tarekat dan ada pula yang menolaknya. Bahkan lebih jauh daripada itu ada pihak-pihak tertentu yang membidaah dan mengkhurafatkannya.

Dalam segala persoalan dari dulu hingga sekarang, ada saja orang yang tidak pasti tentang sesuatu perkara selalu menyalahkan apa yang dia tidak tahu. Oleh itu pada pandangan saya, tidaklah bijaksana dan tidak adil seseorang itu menyalahkan pendapat orang lain sedangkan dia tidak mempelajari pendapat itu secara saksama, teliti dan mendalam kepada ahlinya. Demikian halnya dengan tarekat dalam tasauf telah berada dalam Islam sejak lama dan telah diamalkan oleh ramai ulama.

Selagi ramai ulama yang mengamalkannya dan terdapat hujah-hujah dalam kitab-kitab mereka, walaupun ada golongan yang menyalahkannya kita tidak patut mempertahankan pendapat atau pandangan sendiri. Apabila kita hidup bermasyarakat, tetapi hanya bertahan kepada pendapat atau pandangan sendiri, tidak menerima pendapat atau pandangan orang lain, boleh mengakibatkan keresahan masyarakat, kehidupan selalu tidak harmoni.

Oleh itu seseorang guru agama seperti Imam Haji Ishak yang mengamalkan tarekat seperti yang diriwayatkan ini, tidak perlu kita pertikaikan kerana sepanjang hayatnya mempunyai murid yang ramai dan diterima oleh masyarakat. Bagi saya, siapa saja mempunyai pendapat dan pandangan yang tidak menyalahi Islam marilah berjuang sehingga nyata kebajikan demi kepentingan umat.

Pendidikan

Setelah tamat sekolah Melayu (di Sekolah Melayu Dong, Raub) beliau mendalami ilmu agama secara khusus. Di antara guru-gurunya termasuklah dua orang ulama berikut iaitu Tuan Syeikh Kasyful Anwar (berasal dari Kalimantan). Beliau adalah seorang yang sangat alim dalam ilmu alat (nahu, sharaf, bayan, mantik, balaghah, badi’ dan sebagainya).

Tentang fiqh pula, Tuan Imam Haji Ishak belajar dengan Tuan Syeikh Muhammad Shalih bin Syeikh Haji Umar, ulama yang berasal dari Batu Pahat, Johor.

Di antara kitab-kitab yang dipelajari oleh Tuan Imam Haji Ishak ialah kitab-kitab tentang akidah Matn Jauharah at-Tauhid, Durr ats-Tsamin oleh Syeikh Daud bin Abdullah al-Fathani, Akidah an-Najin oleh Syeikh Zainal Abidin bin Muhammad al-Fathani. Dari tiga buah kitab ilmu akidah atau tauhid yang tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahawa Tuan Imam Haji Ishak telah mempelajari ilmu yang sangat asas itu, sebuah matan dalam bahasa Arab (Matn Jauharah at-Tauhid) dan dua syarah dalam bahasa Melayu (Durr ats-Tsamin dan Akidah an-Najin).

Menurut tradisi pengajian Islam dunia Melayu zaman silam tidak terhenti setakat itu saja, biasanya untuk membolehkan seseorang itu bergelar alim dalam akidah Ahli Sunah wal Jamaah dan berkelayakan mengajar, mereka meneruskan pengajian kepada kitab-kitab dalam bahasa Arab peringkat syarah dan hasyiyah yang tinggi-tinggi serta banyak melakukan pengtelahan.

Tentang fikah ialah Sabil al-Muhtadin oleh Syeikh Muhammad Arsyad bin Abdullah al-Banjari, Furu’ al-Masail oleh Syeikh Daud bin Abdullah al-Fathani, dan al-Iqna’ kitab dalam Mazhab Syafie dalam bahasa Arab. Jika kita perhatikan tiga kitab yang tersenarai juga sebuah kitab dalam bahasa Arab (al-Iqna’) dan dua buah dalam bahasa Melayu (Sabil al-Muhtadin dan Furu’ al-Masail).

Kitab al-Iqna’ bukanlah sebuah kitab yang mendalam tetapi peringkat pertengahan sahaja. Namun ia dianggap memadai kerana termasuk dalam golongan kitab bercorak syarah bukan matan. Kitab Sabil al-Muhtadin kitab Melayu/Jawi yang cukup popular dalam pengajian Islam tradisional di seluruh dunia Melayu.

Dalam pengertian bahagian ibadat kitab Sabil al-Muhtadin termasuk kitab fiqh Syafieyah yang lengkap. Ada pun kitab Furu’ al-Masail juga dalam bahasa Melayu. Kitab ini membicarakan perkara yang furuk-furuk (cabang-cabang atau bahagian yang halus-halus). Hanya dua saja kitab Melayu/Jawi seperti demikian. Sebuah lagi ialah Kasyf al-Litsam karya Syeikh Zainal Abidin bin Muhammad al-Fathani.

Sungguh pun Tuan Imam Haji Ishak bukan dikenali sebagai seorang faqih (pakar fikah) tetapi beliau memahami banyak hal dalam fikah. Tambahan pula, beliau lebih banyak menceburi bidang Tarekat Naqsyabandiyah Khalidiyah tidaklah dapat dianggap beliau tidak memahami syariat. Memanglah sangat berbahaya apabila ada seseorang guru tarekat apabila tidak memahami syariat dan ilmu-ilmu yang lainnya.

Daripada sekian ramai penyebar Tarekat Naqsyabandiyah Khalidiyah di dunia Melayu seumpama Syeikh Ismail bin Abdullah al-Minankabawi, Syeikh Abdul Wahhab Rokan yang turun kepada Tuan Imam Haji Ishak, dan lain-lain yang faham syariat akhir-akhir ini, memang ada orang tertentu yang tidak faham syariat mengaku dirinya sebagai seorang Syeikh Mursyid.

Seseorang yang jahil tentang syariat adalah ditolak atau tidak diakui oleh ulama tasauf sendiri, apatah lagi ulama-ulama golongan lainnya.

Tentang tasauf ialah ar-Riayah li Huquqillah, Kasyf al-Mahjub, ar-Risalah al-Qusyairiyah. Semua kitab yang tersebut adalah dalam bahasa Arab. Hal yang tersebut bukan bererti Tuan Imam Haji Ishak tidak mengenali atau tidak mempelajari kitab-kitab tasauf bahasa Melayu kerana kitab-kitab tasauf pada zamannya masih muda masih banyak diajarkan oleh para ulama kita.

Di antara kitab tasauf bahasa Melayu yang pasti diketahui oleh Tuan Imam Haji Ishak ialah Hidayah as-Salikin dan Siyar as-Salikin. Kedua-duanya karya Syeikh Abdus Shamad al-Falimbani, Kitab Syarh Hikam yang berasal daripada karya Syeikh ‘Atha’ al-Askandari, Ad-Durr An-Nafis oleh Syeikh Muhammad Nafis al-Banjari dan lain-lain.

Di antara kitab tasauf Melayu yang sangat erat hubungannya dengan Tarekat Naqsyabandiyah Khalidiyah (tarekat yang diamal oleh Tuan Imam Haji Ishak) ialah Ar-Rahmah al-Habithah fi Ism az-Zat wa ar-Rabithah karya Syeikh Ismail bin Abdullah Naqsyabandi Khalidi al-Minankabawi.

Tentang hadis ialah Bahr al-Mazi oleh Syeikh Idris al-Marbawi, Shahih al-Bukhari, Shahih Muslim, Fath al-Bari. Dalam empat judul kitab hadis yang disenaraikan ini hanya satu judul saja yang diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Melayu (Bahr al-Mazi). Tiga judul lagi adalah dalam bahasa Arab (Shahih al-Bukhari, Shahih Muslim, Fath al-Bari). Daripada senarai tersebut ternyata Tuan Imam Haji Ishak juga belajar hadis.

Kitab-kitab dipelajari oleh Tuan Imam Haji Ishak seperti tersenarai di atas sudah cukup membuktikan bahawa beliau menguasai ilmu-ilmu Islam. Saya yakin bahawa beliau seorang yang rajin membaca. Hal ini kerana saya berkenalan dengan beliau tahun 1990 di mana beliau membawa dan menunjukkan sebuah kitab karya Syeikh Ahmad al-Fathani yang saya usahakan judul Shufi dan Wali Allah diterbitkan oleh Pustaka Aman Press, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

Setelah beliau tahu saya tinggal di Kuala Lumpur, beliau datang ke rumah saya. Kitab tersebut dijadikan perantara perkenalan. Saya cukup kagum dengan Tuan Imam Haji Ishak kerana pada ketika itu beliau telah mempunyai murid yang ramai dan namanya cukup terkenal dalam lingkungan jemaah Tarekat Naqsyabandiyah Khalidiyah yang beliau pimpin. Namun beliau datang ke rumah saya yang jauh lebih muda daripadanya dan tidak masyhur pula.

Saya berkesimpulan Tuan Imam Haji Ishak adalah seorang warak dan zuhud yang tidak membesarkan diri. Sifat-sifat demikian adalah mengikuti jejak langkah para ulama sufi.

Sumbangan

Pada 1932 Tuan Imam Haji Ishak telah diberi tauliah imam oleh Sultan Abu Bakar (Sultan Pahang). Dalam usia 24 tahun, Tuan Imam Haji Ishak telah diberi kepercayaan menjadi imam di Masjid Lechar, Raub, Pahang Darul Makmur. Berbekalkan ilmu-ilmu keislaman yang dipelajarinya dari para ulama yang dipercayai, Tuan Imam Haji Ishak berjaya menyatupadukan penduduk di kampungnya.

Di samping itu, memimpin mereka berpandukan tuntutan Alus Sunah wal Jamaah.

Tuan Imam Haji Ishak juga adalah pengasas Surau Ihyaul Qulub yang pada mulanya dikenali dengan nama Surau Daerah Kampung Bangkin, Mukim Gali, Raub.

Nama Surau Ihyaul Qulub dimasyhurkan sewaktu sambutan Jubli Emas surau tersebut pada Oktober tahun 1990. Selain jasa serta sebahagian daripada sumbangan Tuan Imam Haji Ishak yang dapat dicatatkan, rasanya tidak dapat tidak jasanya sebagai penyusun salasilah keturunan Rao perlulah diakui. Walaupun masih banyak pertikaian pendapat serta beberapa perkara yang masih belum jelas, namun jasa Tuan Imam Haji Ishak sebagai perintis masyarakat keturunan Rao khususnya di Malaysia amat besar.

Mudah-mudahan jejak langkah beliau akan disusuli dengan bersungguh-sungguh oleh beberapa orang keturunan Rao atau Rawa yang datang kemudian.

Assalamulaikum Tuan Subari Ahmad,

Saya cukup tertarik dengan usaha Tuan untuk mengumpulkan susur galur darah Rawa @ Rao di pelusuk Nusantara terutamanya di Malaysia.
Nama saya Shamsul Bahareen Bin Hassan berasal dari Cheras dan sekarang ini menetap di Kuching, Sarawak. Kedua belah ibubapa saya iaitu Haji Hassan Bin Haji Mahmud dan Hajah Norma Binti Haji Mukti berasal dari Kedah, ibu dari Sungai Petani manakala bapa pula dari Yan tetapi kini bermastautin di Cheras.

Saya berminat untuk mengumpulkan ahli keluarga dan merapatkan silaturrahim sesama kita terutamanya keturunan Rao di sebelah ibu saya. Gemulah nenek saya berasal dari Gunung Mesah kemudian berpindah Kampung Pulai sebelum bermastautin di Kampung Tersusun Kopisan, Gopeng iaitu Haji Mukti Bin Abdullah dan Gemulah Uci saya iaitu Hajah Ramlah.

Untuk pengetahuan Tuan, saya ada terbaca email yang di hantar pada 8/1/2009 dari Encik Razak Bin Nasir dari Gopeng yang ingin mencari saudara mara Rao yang kebetulannya adalah merupakan sepupu saya kerana ibu nya iaitu Hajah Rohani adalah adik beradik tetapi berlainan ibu dgn ibu saya.

Jika Tuan dapat meluangkan masa untuk berkongsi maklumat tentang kajian susur galur Rao yang telah Tuan usahakan setelah sekian lama,adalah menjadi satu penghargaan kepada saya kerana ianya adalah merupakan sejarah berharga yang tidak ternilai kerana dapat saya turunkan kepada anak-anak saya tentang asal-usul keturunan mereka.

Saya ingin tahu tentang susur galurnya...
macam mana saya nak dapatkan salah silah tersebut?nama nenek saya Salmah @ Hamidah Yaacob tapi dikenali dengan nama Norain....Kakak nenek saya bernama Sariah bt Yaacob...Nenek Sariah masih lagi tinggal di Kg Gunung Mesah(dekat jln kubur)..saya berharap sangat2 dapat mengetahuinya...

SEJARAH RAO

Cerita berikut ini saya dapatkan dari beberapa sumber (orang-orang yang sudah tua di Penduduk asli yang mendiami Rao pada awalnya adalah orang Leco atau orang Leso. Ciri-ciri orang leso bertubuh lebih kecil daripada orang-orang lain mereka biasa hidup berkelompok di dalam hutan, mengkonsumsi ikan yang mereka tangkapi dari sungai-sungai di sepanjang daerah Rao yang dulunya adalah hutan dan rawa-rawa. Orang leco dulunya menetap di kampung yang sekarang disebut dengan Lubuk gadang atau Ranjau batu ( Kecamatan Mapat Tunggul pecahan dari kecamatan Rao) Kedatangan Suku bangsa Lubu dari Kamboja yang masuk melalui bagan siapi-api (Riau) sampai ke Lubuk gadang Pada Abad Ke 1 sampai dengan abad ke 5 Masehi menggusur keberadaan orang Leco. Karena mereka takut dengan Postur tubuh Orang suku bangsa Lubu yang jauh lebih tinggi daripada postur tubuh mereka. Orang Leso kemudian mencari hutan-hutan yang lebih dalam untuk mereka tinggali. Sementara daerah asal mereka didiami oleh Suku bangsa Pendatang yaitu Suku bangsa Lubu. Konon karena itulah daerah tersebut dinamakan Lubuak Godang yang diambil dari nama Lubu. Sekitar 15 Tahun yang lalu orang Leso sekali-kali sering tampak oleh penduduk Rao di sekitar Hutan mereka biasanya meminta garam ke Penduduk yang mereka temui (saya kurang paham dengan bahasa apa yang mereka pakai utuk berkomunikasi)

Orang Lubu berkembang biak sepanjang Sumatera dan konon juga katanya setiap jejak daerah yang pernah mereka tinggali selalu bernama Lubu/Lubuak/Lubuk didepannya seperti Lubuak Godang, Lubuak Layang, Lubuak sikaping dan lain-lain.

Agama suku bangsa Lubu adalah Agama Hindu dan mempberlakukan Sistem kasta antara lain:

1. Kasta Brahmana yang berubah menjadi Suku Ompu
2. Kasta Kesatria yang berubah menjadi Kandang Kapauak
3. Kasta Waisa yang berubah menjadi Suku Mandialang
4. Kasta Sudra yang berubah menjadi Suku Pungkut

Kasta sudra masih pecah lagi menjadi beberapa suku tetapi saya lupa nama suku-suku tersebut

Sekitar abad Ke 6 masuklah agama Budha dan menghapus sistem kasta yang ada dan berubah menjadi suku-suku diatas. Sekitar Abad Ke 14 Masehi Lahirlah kerajaan-kerajaan di sumatera antara lain: Mandailing, Minang Kabua (bukan minang kabau, mungkin saja cikal bakal minag kabau) dan Darmasraya.

Cerita lain yang saya dengar, di Rao dulu ada sebuah kerajaan yang sangat besar, istana kerajaan inilah kabarnya yang dijadikan benteng Van Amerongen (Benteng Pertahanan Belanda pada saat Perang Paderi). Ada yang menyebutkan nama kerajaannya adalah kerajaan Gajah Morom, arsitektur Rumah adatnya menyerupai Rumah adat minang kabau sekarang ini, hanya saja gonjongnya lebih sedikit, dan dibagian tengah atap ada gambar gajah yang sedang duduk. Saya berjanaji Insya Allah akan saya minta sketsa istana ini kepada salah satu orang tua yang masih memiliki sketsa Istana tersebut.

Bukan tidak mungkin Rao dulunya merupakan kerajaan yang besarkarena letak nya sangat strategis dan merupakan persinggahan pedagang di sumatera. Letak Istana Rao dulu juga sangat strategis berada dia atas ketinggian yang jika memandang ke sekeliling akan terlihat pemandangan lembah dan selingkung bukit barisan. Rao juga dulunya penghasil Emas, anda bisa baca di “Cataten Rao” diatas. Konon bangsa belanda yang dulu singgah di Rao selalu menetap lama di Rao dan membawa dan membawa emas sebagai Oleh-oleh dari rao. Selama menetap mereka biasanya menyimpan emas di dalam tanah agar tidak dicuri orang lain.

Menurut cerita emas-emas mereka masih banyak yang tertimbun karena pada saat terdesak saat perang Paderi mereka lupa membawa emas mereka. Bukan tidak mungkin juga, saya sering menemui orang-orang dari negeri Belanda melancong ke Rao dan berjalan mengelilingi Tanah bekas Benteng van Amerongen, bisa saja mereka mencari emas yang dulunya di timbun nenek moyang mereka. Tapi biasanya mereka tidak pernah bermalam di Rao hanya berputar-putar di sekeliling Tanah bekas Benteng beberapa jam lalu pergi. Mereka juga sangat tertutup jika ditanyai tujuan kedatangannya, ada juga yang berkilah tidak bisa berbahasa Selain bahasa Belanda.

Tarikh 26hb. Feb. 2002 tidak akan luput dari ingatan apabila rombongan keluarga kami dari Raub, Pahang seramai 42 orang telah menuju ke Padang Nunang Rao untuk bertemu dengan waris keluarga yang masih tinggal menetap di sana. Kami keluar memulakan perjalanan seawal jam 4.00 pagi dari Hotel Ambun Suri di Bukit Tinggi, SUMBAR dengan menaiki bas menuju ke destinasi. Sepanjang perjalanan yang berliku-liku dan melalui kampung-kampung yang damai dengan pemandangan sawah padi yang terbentang luas akhirnya kami sampai juga ke Padang Nunang sebuah kampung di daerah Rao jam 9.00 pagi dengan disambut secara meriah oleh penduduk-penduduknya dengan acara keramaian adat minang. Seterusnya kami telah di sambut oleh Duli Yang Dipertuan Padang Nunang bersama-sama Permaisuri yang kemudiannya mempersilakan semua anggota rombongan masuk kerumah beliau. Maka berpeluk-pelukanlah keluarga rombongan dengan keluarga di Padang Nunang ini kerana mereka tidak menyangka boleh berjumpa kembali selepas terpisah selama 200 tahun lebih. Waktu itu dapat dilihat kemesraan masing-masing yang melepaskan kerinduan kepada keluarga yang masih ada pertalian 3 atau 4 pupu. Kami juga telah dihidangkan dengan makanan-makanan tradisional Rao seperti Lemang, Rendang, Kelamai Jagung dan lain-lain kueh yang jarang dapat kami berjumpa.

Selepas keberangkatan tiba Sultan Pagaruyung serta Permaisuri dan Yang DiPertuan Gadih Gadang Pagaruyung serta ahli-ahli rombongan dari Istana Pagaruyung maka tepat jam 11.00 pagi, Majlis Adat Istiadat di mulakan dengan menjemput Duli Yang Mulia Sultan Pagaruyung memberi ucapan dan diteruskan oleh wakil dari Pahang iaitu YM Tengku Puji B. Tengku Abd. Hamid dan juga ucapan dari Yang Di Pertuan Padang Nunang. Selesai majlis pada jam 12.30 tgh kami telah dipersilakan ke majlis jamuan makan tengahari dan sudah pastinya hidangan 'Kosa' (Gulai Rebus) adalah salah satu menu wajib dalam majlis keramaian seperti ini.

Selesai jamuan makan dan setelah berehat sebentar beramah mesra dengan tetamu yang hadir maka tibalah saat kami meminta izin untuk beredar kerana meneruskan perjalanan pulang ke Malaysia. Dimasa inilah kami dapat melihat kedua-dua belah pihak keluarga berpeluk-pelukan dengan airmata yang berlinangan... Jam 2.00 petang rombongan kami menaiki bas dan meneruskan perjalanan ke Bukit Tinggi selanjutnya ke Dumai. Sampai di Dumai jam 1.00 tengah malam, dan kami semua telah bermalam disini. Keesukan harinya kami melanjutkan perjalanan pulang dengan menaiki feri ke Melaka dan terus menuju balik ke Raub...

Tahniah atas niat dan usaha murni anda dan usaha ini harus di sokong ,
saya keturunan Rao dari Gopeng Perak , juga berminat dan telah mula menyambung usaha
ayahanda saya menyingkap asal keturunan sehingga di : Kecamatan Rao , Kabupaten Pasaman , Propinsi Sumatera Barat , Indonesia .

Namun ada sedikit halangan bila kebanyakan waris terdahulu telah menukar nama asal mereka bila tiba ke tanah melayu dan yang berkenaan kebanyakannya telah meninggal dunia . Cara yang tinggal adalah melalui persatuan yang baru dibentuk iaitu JARO dan menziarahi sendiri kampung-kampung asal di Rao .

Pertama kali saya memperkenalkan diri, nama saya A.Rahim Qahhar bermastautin di Medan Sumatera Utara Indonesia . Tertarik untuk menghantar emel kerana saya dapati tulisan saya “Pengabdi Republik Tak Mungkin Munafik” dalam blog En. Arisel itu saya muat dalam akhbar Medan Bisnis tempat saya bekerja, dan saya hantar ke milis Dato’ Kemala. Daripada mana En dapat artikel tersebut?

Bila En. Subari di Pahang, sila tanya Marsli NO dia amat kenal saya, juga Dato Kemala sahabat saya, nyaris papan atas sasterawan kat sini adalah kenalan saya. Kerana saya juga selalu ikut dalam kegiatan Gapena atau Pena.

Dan yang saya amat tertarik iaitu mengenai Teromba Rawi atau Rao. Kemudian saya baca sejarah oran g Rao di Tanah Semenanjung , wa h..saya terkagum-kagum kerana tak pernah tahu sejarah seperti itu. Kerana saya juga keturunan Rao, namun sekali pun tak pernah pulang atau menengok ke Bonjol, Rao. Sejak lahir hingga usia di atas usia Rasulullah sekarang ni, tetap bermastautin di Medan .

Pilihan raya Mac lepas saya berada di Gopeng kerana ada pesta kahwin anak saudara mara, iaitu anak daripada adik saya Badrul yang buka usa ha Kolam Pa ncing udang di Gopeng. Atok kami adik beradik, dua di Gopeng lainnya di Indonesia . Ramai saudara mara di Gopeng, satu kampong hampir semua berfamili. Yang tertua saat ini boleh En Subari kontek dia, iaitu abang saya H Mohd Nasir bin Abdul Wa hab di Gopeng Perak. Nombor talipon rumah 05- 359.6197 atau talp bimbit 012.5204.156 dan 012.5035.610.
En Subari boleh kontek dia dan mungkin nak ikut bergabung dalam Teromba Rao yang ada kat sini. Sekian sahaja.

Saya memang Orang Rao, asal dari Kulawarga Pagar Ruyung/Padang Nunang/Rao-Mapattunggul. Kami melalui JARO sedang berusaha menerbitkan Teromba Keturunan Rao ke arah menjejak Jatidiri. Nanti saya ke Medan, akan cari sdra. Saya ada saudara di Gunung Mesah Hilir, Gopeng Perak - Datuk Aziz Shamsuddin tu berkait dengan saya sebagai anak saudara.

Tapi saya aslinya di Kg. Gali. Raub, Pahang, lubuk Orang Rao di Pahang.

Maklumat yang sdra berikan itu amat berguna untuk Projek Penerbitan Teromba Rao ini. Di Tanah Melayu, Orang dari Rao itu dikenali sebagai Orang Rawa, Orang Rawo atau ar-Rawi.

Saya mungkin ke Sumatera Barat pada April 2009, mungkin melalui Medan, lebih dekat, jika ikut Dumai, sedikit jauh.

Saya memang kenal sdra. Saya sejak 1983 - 1993 pernah aktif dalam Dewan Persuratan Melayu Pahang dan Gapena. Saya pernah jadi Skretaris DPMP selama 10 tahun. Nama pena saya ialah Arisel BA.

Jika sdra orang Rao, kita ada tali waris yang kental - ikut jalur saya ialah Ismail@ Subari bin Ahmad bin Jaafar bin Ibrahim bgin Tunku Ideris (kerabat dari Pagarruyung Saya adalah keturujan yang kelima.

Orang Rao di Sumbar hanya ada 60,000 plus, sedangkan di Tanah Melayu sudah membiak hingga 150,000 orang, itu sebab usaha menerbitkan Salasilah Kulawarga Rao di Tanah Melayu ini jadi semakin penting.

Kita berhubung lagi, jika sdra mahu kenal dengan peribadi saya, boleh tanya Pak Kemala atau Marsli NO. Rahsia saya ada dalam saku mereka daaa...

Artikel itu saya petik dari Forum Pak Kemala. Maaflah jika bersalahan, tetapi Adam Malek itu orang Rao, mesti dimartabatkan.

Datuk Undang Luak Rembau, Datuk Muhamad Sharip Othman menafikan desas-desus kononnya ada pihak, termasuk Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan cuba mempengaruhi pemilihan Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan yang baru.

Sebaliknya, kata beliau, pelantikan Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir (foto) sebagai Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan yang baru Isnin lalu, diputuskan secara sebulat suara tanpa lobi-melobi oleh mana-mana pihak.

Bercakap dalam temuramah eksklusif dengan Bernama di kediamannya di Rembau, Muhamad Sharip menafikan menteri besar cuba mempengaruhi keempat-empat Datuk Undang Luak negeri itu dalam membuat keputusan mereka berhubung pelantikan itu.

"Dalam Enakmen Kerajaan Negeri Sembilan, kuasa mutlak untuk melantik Yang Dipertuan Besar terletak hanya kepada Undang Yang Empat sahaja, iaitu Datuk Undang Luak Sungai Ujong, Datuk Undang Luak Jelebu, Datuk Undang Luak Rembau dan Datuk Undang Luak Johol, dengan dipengerusikan oleh Datuk Undang Luak Sungai Ujong.

"Untuk makluman semua, keputusan mesyuarat atau kerapatan kami adalah 100 peratus atau sebulat suara," katanya bagi menjelaskan salah laporan terutama oleh penulis-penulis blog berhubung pelantikan Tuanku Muhriz.

Tuanku Muhriz, 60, menggantikan bapa saudaranya, Tuanku Ja'afar ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman, 86, yang mangkat Sabtu lalu, setelah menjadi Yang Dipertuan Besar selama 41 tahun.

"Saya cukup menghargai dan berterima kasih kepada Menteri Besar kerana beliau tidak mempengaruhi atau campur tangan dengan urusan pemilihan ini sebagai mana desas-desus yang kita dengar. Saya menafikan desas-desus ini. Beliau bersikap amat profesional dalam hal ini," kata Muhamad Sharip.

Datuk Undang Luak Rembau itu juga ditanya apakah faktor-faktor yang diambil kira oleh Datuk Undang Yang Empat sebulat suara melantik Tuanku Muhriz, kerabat Diraja yang tidak dikenali ramai yang sebelum ini bergelar Tunku Besar Seri Menanti.

Muhamad Sharip hanya menjawab: "Itu memang hak mutlak Datuk Undang yang Empat untuk menentukan yang mana faktor-faktor itu terpulanglah kepada mereka sahaja dan pada pemikiran mereka pada masa itu".

Spekulasi mengenai pemilihan Yang Dipertuan Besar yang baru sebelum ini banyak memihak kepada putera sulung Almarhum Ja'afar, Tunku Naquiyuddin, iaitu Tunku Laxamana Negeri Sembilan yang berprofil tinggi di kalangan masyarakat Malaysia.

Mengenai perasaannya kerana terlibat secara peribadi dalam peristiwa bersejarah untuk memilih Yang Dipertuan Besar atau lebih dikenali sebagai Yam Tuan yang baru, Muhamad Sharip berkata perkara itu tidak termimpi olehnya.

"Kita hidup ini, mungkin dia (Yam Tuan) pergi dulu, mungkin kita pergi dulu. Kebetulan Almarhum Tuanku Ja'afar yang pergi dulu daripada kita dan kita terpaksa menjalankan amanah ini," katanya.

Beliau menyifatkan tanggungjawab memilih Yam Tuan yang baru buat pertama kali dalam lebih 40 tahun itu sebagai sebagai "cukup-cukup berat".

"Ia cukup-cukup berat kerana kalau di negeri-negeri lain, pelantikan itu dari ayah turun ke anak, tetapi tidak di Negeri Sembilan. Kita unik".

Muhamad Sharip berkata bukanlah mudah untuk Datuk-Datuk Undang itu membuat keputusan kerana mereka harus mengambil kira segala aspek dan banyak sudut.

Beliau juga bangga kerana kerahsiaan mengenai keputusan pelantikan Tuanku Muhriz sebagai Yam Tuan yang baru dapat kekalkan tanpa ada kebocoran sehingga pemasyhuran rasmi dibuat sejurus sebelum acara pemakaman jenazah Almarhum Tuanku Ja'afar diadakan selepas solat Asar Isnin lalu.

Katanya keputusan Datuk Undang Yang Empat itu tidak dimaklumkan terlebih dahulu malah kepada Tuanku Muhriz sendiri atau tiga lagi kerabat Diraja yang layak dipertimbangkan sebagai pengganti.

Ketiga-tiga mereka terdiri daripada putera Almarhum Tuanku Ja'afar iaitu Tunku Naquiyuddin, Tunku Imran dan Tunku Putera Nadzaruddin.

Mengenai Almarhum Tuanku Ja'afar, Datuk Undang Luak Rembau berkata: "Kami sebenarnya rapat dengan Almarhum dan kasih sayang padanya. Bagi kami kemangkatannya adalah satu kehilangan besar kepada rakyat Negeri Sembilan dan kepada kami Undang Yang Empat kerana seperti umum mengetahui, Almarhum bukanlah calang-calang orangnya".

Beliau berkata Almarhum Tuanku Ja'afar merupakan seorang raja yang baik, adil, berfikiran tajam, penyabar dan selalu membuat sesuatu keputusan secara bermusyawarah.

Muhamad Sharip juga bersetuju bahawa terdapat minat di kalangan rakyat khususnya di luar Negeri Sembilan untuk mengetahui secara lebih meluas tentang Adat Pepatih yang digunapakai di Negeri Sembilan, terutama ekoran pemilihan Yam Tuan yang baru.

Katanya, beliau sendiri mengambil inisiatif ke arah ini dan sebuah buku mengenai Adat Pepatih dan perkara-perkara berkaitan dengannya akan diterbitkan dalam masa terdekat.

Buku itu yang bertajuk "Legasi Ketuanan Rembau" akan diedarkan ke sekolah-sekolah di samping dijual pasaran buku dan khusus ditumpukan kepada generasi muda.

1773 - 1795 Y.M.M. Paduka Sri Tuanku Sultan Mahmud Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan 'Abdu'l Jalil, Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan. b. at Pagarruyung, as Raja Melawar, son of Raja Masa Bhumi, by his wife, Putri Ratna Duata, youngest daughter of Daulat Yang di-Pertuan Paduka Sri Tuanku Sultan Alif II [Yamtuan Khalif]. Selected as ruler by the Yang di-Pertuan of Pagarruyung, and sent at the invitation of the Minangkabau settlers in Malay peninsular. Arriving to find that Raja Khatib had established himself as ruler, and was consequently forced to compromise with the lesser chiefs in order to win his position and defeat his rival. Defeated and killed or expelled Raja Khitab with their help. Elected and installed at Penajis, by the Undang Lauts of the federation, 8th November 1778. Granted the style of Paduka Sri Sultan Mahmud Shah and confirmed in the title of Yang di-Pertuan Besar by Sultan Mahmud III Shah of Johor. m.
